Blog Book

Today I got this is the mail....

This is the reason I started blogging and quit scrap booking. I wanted to be able to document the happenings in the life of my family in a way that was easier for me. When I found out that I could keep a blog and then have it printed up into a book, I was sold. Well in January when I went to slurp my blog I found out some not so good news. Blurb wasn't slurping from Blogger anymore. What?!? I was so sad. I just couldn't get motivated to do all of the work that it would take to bypass the ease of slurping nor did I have the desire to keep blogging if I wasn't going to be able to have a book. Then my friend, Sara, called with the best news ever. Blurb was now slurping from Blogger. I can't tell you how happy this news made me. I was elated. One week later, my book was here. It came today and when Alexa got home from school she sat down and started reading it. She has already read every entry but wanted to read them again. This is the best part of blogging, scrap booking, and journaling. Seeing your kids pick up the book and read it. Yeah for Blurb!

Goal Completed

I have been serving as the young women's president in our ward for the past 20 months and during that time I have been trying to complete the requirements for the leaders to receive my personal progress award. Well as of today...I've done it. I completed the program as a young woman and received my necklace before I turned 16. It was different going through this time as I obviously have a different perspective on the goals and projects. But it felt good setting goals and achieving them and having the young women and my own children see and know that this program and the things it teaches are not just for when you are in the young women's program as a youth but are applicable to your spiritual growth and development throughout your life.

Towels Continued....

Well after fighting with the sewing machine we inherited from my mom for a few days...we finally finished the towels. They ended up being a little too many steps for the kids to sit down and do so I did most of the work but they did get to pick what they wanted their towels to be. This project was good for me because I am a little more confident in my ability to run a sewing machine, not that I think it will become my new favorite hobby, but I am capable of doing a small project.

Alexa is a yellow monster, Mackenzie is a pink bunny, and Dayton is a frog.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was on a Saturday this year and our kids are taking swimming lessons at 9am so we decided to wake them up early to enjoy a special breakfast. It was a little reminiscent of Christmas morning as I told them to hurry and come downstairs for a surprise. Okay maybe pancakes and girl scout cookies aren't the best surprise but we don't do this every day.
Breakfast was yummy and it was fun just to spend some time together in the morning without the hustle of getting ready to get out the door.
We went to the Olive Garden for a yummy lunch and then came home to play on our new Wii Fit. I had a friend tell me recently that I should be a spokesperson for Wii. I LOVE the Wii. We have had so much fun as a family with this system. Although I'm not too excited about my little Mii getting puffy...it has a scale that determines if you are underweight, healthy weight, over weight, or obese.

Finally Nathan and I had a date night and chaperoned a youth dance. It was an interesting night and I think both of us are happy to just be together and not have to play those dating games anymore.

Sheets

I went to wake Mackenzie up for school this morning and told her she didn't need to make her bed because I was going to wash her sheets. She perks up and says, "Is Grandma coming?" Apparently we only wash our sheets when Grandma comes to town.

Hooded Towels

I bravely participated in an enrichment activity that required sewing. This is the final result and I couldn't be more pleased. I am now teaching my kids how to make their own hooded towel. In case you can't tell, my towel is a fluffy, white bunny rabbit. More photos to come as we complete our projects.

Pacers Tickets

Nathan got tickets to the Pacers/Cavs game and was talking to Dayton about going to the game. Nate starts to talk about what sport apparel they should wear to the game when Dayton quite seriously looks at Nate and says, "But, I don't have a finger." We laughed for quite a while after that comment and then proceeded to tell Dayton that you don't have to have a finger to cheer at a sporting event, although they sure are fun to wave around.
