Marengo Caves

There was a youth temple trip in Louisville this weekend so we took the whole family and Alexa and I went in and afterwards our family headed west about an hour to Marengo Caves. What an experience. It was 52 degrees in the caves which felt incredible to me. Everybody else needed a sweatshirt. It amazes me that such beautiful formations can be so extensive underground. It was well worth the trip and although a bit pricey we had a great time.

This is penny ceiling. The ceiling is wet so when you throw a penny or other coin up to the ceiling it sticks. I got hit in the head a couple of times as our group was throwing coins up into the air. I got a shot of everyone except Alexa and everyone had a coin stick.

There are two tours. The first for Crystal Palace. The second for Dripstone Trail. Our tour guide for Crystal Palace was great. She spoke loud enough for all to hear but in a regular voice. Our second tour guide was someone straight out of the amusement park. The kids kept copying some of her phrases all the way home.

that kind of stuff amazes me! How fun for your family! That is cool about the penny ceiling too!
