A Visit to the E.R.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING PHOTOS ARE A BIT GRAPHIC!

Mackenzie was on her way up to bed when she was being a little bit silly and cut the corner and knocked her head against the corner plate of the wall. After some serious tears I noticed it was bleeding....a lot. So we applied ice and pressure and got in the car and headed to the emergency room. After waiting entirely too long but in good spirits we were able to see the triage nurse who proceeded to ask Mackenzie to rate her pain. As a side note we are huge Brian Regan fans. In one of his shows he talks about heading to the emergency room and having to park himself. He then jokes about the pain rating system. He heard once that a broken femer bone is the worst pain one could ever experience followed up by childbirth. The fear is that one rates his pain too high and takes the emergency away from the broken femer bone or rates the pain too low and has to wait too long. Mackenzie rated her pain at a 6 and we waited some more. Once we got into a room we waited for the doctor who was far too abrupt. We were not impressed by his bedside manner. The physicians assistant who cleaned and stapled up the wound was great. He let me take all kinds of pictures, answered all of our questions, and was kind and gentle. So after 2 1/2 hours, Mackenzie has 3 staples in her head, which have to stay in for 10 days, in addition to no swimming for 5 days, a sore head and a very interesting story to share complete with the visuals, if you can stomach it.

Thanks for the Graphic notice. Staples are a pain I had them w/ one of my c-sections. Tell McKenzie she is a trooper. "That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger"
